Sukosan is a small town located in the spacious bay of Zlatna luka, 7 km southeast of Zadar. Today it is the seat of the municipality of Sukošan, which also includes the towns of Debeljak, Glavica and Gorica. The fertile fields in the area, the naturally protected sea bay - Zlatna luka, and the beauty of the landscape, were attractive to the peoples of two thousand years ago - the Illyrians and Romans.
Within the former village walls, the place is intertwined with narrow streets with old stone houses bearing the hallmarks of past turbulent centuries, and in the central part of this medieval settlement stands the parish church. The 'Upper Gate' square is especially picturesque, with old villas converted into charming catering facilities and a chapel dedicated to the Blessed Virgin. During the summer months, various exhibitions, concerts and theater performances are organized here.
Thanks to numerous restaurants and authentic Dalmatian taverns, Sukosan is considered a place of song and wine.
